PATENT INFORMATION DIVISION
With technical and financial support from the Technology Information Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, New Delhi, a Patent Information Centre has been setup at 1st floor, Vigyan Bhawan, Gorkhabasti in December, 2003.
Creating awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR viz. Patent, Copyright, Trademark, Design, Geographical Indication etc.)
Facilitation in filing of Patent Application, Copyright Registration, Trademark Registration, Design Registration etc.
Enabling Patent Database Searching.
Till date, this centre has organized 11 workshops and 20 general lectures on IPR issues for the benefit of the students and faculties of Institutes of Higher & Technical education in Tripura.
8 Patent searches have been provided. One Patent application filed, one application of Trademark registration of ‘GOMATI’ submitted and 39 queries have also been handled. Nine items of Tripura viz. Pineapple, Orange, Savri Banana, Konakkai Bamboo, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Rubber etc. has been identified for GI registration.
Activities during 2008-09:
Aiming to generate awareness about Intellectual Property Rights and to encourage Students/Research Scholars to file application for Patent, an One Day Patent Awareness Workshop was organized at Tripura University on January 22, 2009 with support from Technology Information Forecasting Assessment Council, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. Sri R Saha, Adviser, TIFAC, Department of Science & Technology was present as a resource person among the others. Professors, Students, Research Scholars of different departments were present as participants
With the objective of creating awareness about the benefits of copyright acts and to explain the formalities/procedures about filling the application of copyright, an One Day Awareness Workshop on Copyright was organized at Students Health Home, Agartala on February 14, 2009 with support from Technology Information Forecasting Assessment Council, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The Resource Persons from Delhi & Kolkata has delivered lectures in the said workshop. Writers/authors, publishers, book sellers were present in the workshop as participants.
Patent Application Filed:
One application of Sri Sujit Bhowmik for his invention entitled “Enhancing the longevity of Donor’s eye within donor’s medically declared dead body” has been filed to “Controller of Patents”, Kolkata
Copyright Application Filed:
During the year 2008-09, 2 applications as follows have been filed to Registrar of Copyrights, New Delhi
